A handmade, papercut work that describes Jerusalem (written in Hebrew Yerushalaim-ירושלים) as the center of the world.
For me Jerusalem has it's own place in my heart. As one that was always dreaming of Jeruslem as a child, and one who lives in it for almost 30 years, I can say with a full heart that I love it.
In this work I decided to try to show Jerusalem as a center, as it apeared to be in my life. Mizrah (מזרח) in hebrew means East, and Maarav (מערב) surprisingly west. In the center you can see the play with stars, one with the bear that symbolizes the north, and one with the lion that shows the lion of Jerusalem. The work is also made in a sort of "yin&yang" style, because it really seems to me that this city contains everything of everything. Good and bad, light and dark-that somehow, through all these years, succeeded in keeping the balance.
